Maruti Suzuki, a brand often overlooked for safety, is looking to turn the tables. Three of their SUVs are expected to challenge expectations and achieve top ratings at the upcoming Bharat NCAP crash tests.

Brezza Ready to Break Records?

The compact Brezza spearheads the charge. Built on Suzuki’s Global C platform with a proven safety record, the Brezza previously scored an impressive 4 stars at Global NCAP (with just 2 airbags!). Now equipped with 6 airbags, experts believe a 5-star rating at Bharat NCAP is within reach.

Grand Vitara Leverages Strong Foundation

The Grand Vitara joins the Brezza, also benefiting from the Global C platform. With 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and a potentially heavier build compared to the Brezza, the Grand Vitara has a strong shot at achieving a perfect 5-star safety rating.

Invicto: Will Toyota’s DNA Shine Through?

The Maruti Invicto, while not confirmed for testing, could be another surprise contender. Based on Toyota’s TNGA C platform, renowned for safety, the Invicto inherits Toyota’s reputation for sturdiness. A 5-star rating seems likely for the Invicto.

Baleno Seeks Redemption

Beyond SUVs, the popular Baleno hatchback might also undergo Bharat NCAP testing. Previously scoring a disappointing 0 stars at Latin NCAP, Maruti has equipped the 2024 Baleno with 6 airbags and improved build quality. This revised version might fare significantly better.

The upcoming Swift joins the Baleno for potential testing. While still built on the Heartect platform, improved safety features could be a game-changer. Rumors suggest the 2024 Swift might be the first Maruti car to offer 6 airbags as standard, significantly boosting its safety credentials.

Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to sending these vehicles for testing is a positive sign. With a renewed focus on safety, Maruti is poised to rewrite its narrative at Bharat NCAP. The coming months will reveal if these contenders can truly redeem Maruti’s safety image.
